As our major growing season winds down, we pull up spent plants and add them to the compost heap. We also add green kitchen waste like peels and coffee grounds, some of the leaves raked from our yard ( our huge trees produce HUGE quantities of leaves so some must go to the city green waste!) and trimmed branches. The whole lot gets processed through Steve’s shredder and left to break down. We periodically water and turn it and in a couple of months is it ready to return to the garden.
